I dont want to make anyone feel badly..so I will keep it light..We ended up donating about 150 stockings in memory of James to St Lukes..More than I expected..Here is a pic of my Dad and Dave from St Lukes getting ready to take them into the church..We miss James so very much and keeping busy has been a great help but in the next 2 weeks we also have his birthday coming up and the 1 yr anniversary of his death..It is so hard to stay positive when your heart is broken..

#2 A good plan that will be implemented not just talked about to fight crime..
#3 More cleanups,green demo's,rehabbing where possible..
My strategic plan researched and written by me almost 4 yrs ago would of saved the city about 300k by now.
#4 More investment in our future = the children..clean up the parks to start!
#5 Get rid of non performing politicians..1 year terms? decreases in pay for poor performance..the possibilities are endless!
#6 less meetings,conferences and seminars and more action!

100 stockings!

We made it to 100!actually maybe a few extra.. Im VERY proud... There is truly no better feeling in the world than to know you are helping someone who needs a hand up.I have made a vow to do atleast 2 "events" each year in memory of my beloved James and hopefully also begin his garden this spring.
This time of year is when people seem to be the most in need..yesterday I found out about a senior who needs a lift installed in order for her to be released from a nursing home and by last night Im pretty sure we found people to install it for her( with help from Buffalo ReUse) of course..
And also got a call about a single Mom with a 2 mth old baby and a 3 yr old who needed a place to live..that issue is resolved now too..I just need to get her some furniture.
And the last call for help from a woman who also needs a place to live..if all goes well I will have a solution today..
Instead of constantly worrying about how Im going to help everyone who comes to me for help I am starting to realize as my friend Cookie reminds me.. things will work out and usually they do!
I hope everyone is ready for the holidays..remember to cherish your loved ones every single day :)

Missed opportunities

For several yrs I have told everyone to buy in the fruitbelt..some people thought I was crazy...now even lots sell for 5-10k and several houses have been purchased for 4-5 times their assessed value..why you ask? because the medical corridor is expanding again and will continue to need room to expand in the future..I have been doing some research and there is another area "coming back" slowly,quietly but steadily..I think I will try to save up and buy a vacant lot soon!

Grandmothers..

I was truly blessed in life with 2 sets of wonderful grandparents whom I adored..
I have 1 grandparent left.. my paternal grandmother who is going to be 86 in a week..
Today a strange number popped up on my phone and when I called it back it was a hospital..The operator had no idea of course who called me and immediately my heart sunk..I have received these calls before..I was scared..A few minutes later the phone rang and it was the same number and the voice I heard was my Grandma..
She proceeded to tell me she fell and broke 2 bones in her neck..of course I immediately started crying like a baby..
My Grandmother is legally blind but can see alittle out of one eye..She didnt know how it happened exactly but as she started describing the scenario it became clear she had a stroke..
She said the only complaint she had was the neck brace was uncomfortable!
Every test,blood work,MRI,cat scan etc...came back pretty good for an 85 yr old woman and apparently it was a mild stroke.
I am so very thankful because sincerely I can not lose another loved one..
My Grandmother is not going to live forever I do realize that but as she said tonight..she is not going anywhere anytime soon.And Im so glad she feels that way because we need her around another 20-30 yrs!
